Voiceover Script Timer
Paste a script to see how long it will take to read aloud, whether it fits your slot, and how many credits it needs.
How the timer estimates length
The timer counts the words in your script and divides by a speaking rate. Natural narration usually lands somewhere around 130 to 160 words per minute, a little slower for calm or instructional reads and a little faster for energetic ads. It also adds the length of any [pause] markers (half a second by default, or the length you set, such as [pause 2s]).
Numbers take longer to say than to read: "$1,299.99" is six spoken words. Run your script through the TTS script cleaner first for a more accurate count.
Common slot lengths
| Slot | Words at 150 wpm | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 15 seconds | about 35–40 | Short social ad, pre-roll |
| 30 seconds | about 70–75 | Radio or video ad |
| 60 seconds | about 145–150 | Explainer intro, phone greeting with menu |
| 5 minutes | about 750 | Tutorial section, lesson |
