TTS Script Cleaner
Paste a script to see exactly how prices, dates, phone numbers, emails and web addresses will be read aloud, before a voice gets them wrong.
Why voices misread scripts
Text-to-speech voices are trained to read words, and most do well with ordinary sentences. Symbols and formats are where they slip: a price might be read digit by digit, a date in numbers might be read as a subtraction, and a web address might be read as one long word. Each mistake means another generation and another edit.
What this cleaner changes
- Prices in dollars, euros and pounds, including cents and "k" or "million" amounts.
- Percentages such as 15% → 15 percent.
- ISO dates such as 2026-10-12 → October 12, 2026.
- Phone numbers, read in clear groups of digits.
- Emails and web addresses, with "at", "dot" and "slash".
- Abbreviations: e.g., i.e., etc., vs., 24/7, & and #1.
The complete list is on our how it works page. In the studio these rules run automatically, and you can add your own words, such as brand names, to a pronunciation dictionary.
What it leaves alone
Ambiguous formats like 10/12/2026 are not changed, because they mean different dates in different countries. Names are not changed either; that's what the pronunciation dictionary is for.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work for any text-to-speech tool?
Yes. Copy the cleaned text into any text-to-speech tool. In VoiceoverWise you don't need to: the same rules run automatically.
Is my script stored?
No. It is processed to show the result and is not saved.
Does it support other languages?
The rules are designed for English scripts. For other languages, write numbers and dates out in words.
